Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University) was laid on 1st July 1927 as a result of the hectic efforts of a band of enthusiastic academicians like Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narayan Prasad Asthana, Dr. LP Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bahadur Anand Swarup, and Dr. Brajendra Swarup.
